There was a smell that came with summer nights at the roller rink. A mix of floor wax, popcorn, and that weird carpet cleaner they used on the walls. This song had a swagger to it that made kids want to show off. The bassline was so distinct that you could recognize it from clear across the parking lot before you even walked through the rink doors.
Older kids especially loved this one. It gave them a reason to slow their skate down just enough to look cool while still moving with the beat. Younger kids watched and tried to copy the style, usually falling in the process, but nobody cared. Falling was just part of the night.
